Group,

Wanted to shed some light on the antenna supply situation.

The results of Jeremy's GPS patch antenna tests found that the EMTAC & Sangshin 18mm x 4mm 1580MHz frequency ceramic patch antennas performed identical and the best choice of all the tested antennas so far.  Jeremy says the Sangshin "looks" better aesthetically though =)

Sangshin is distributed by rfmw, and EMTAC by Transplant GPS in the North America.  Both request $5 USD each in our low hobby quantities although I have heard of someone bartering lower, your mileage may vary.

RFMW with the Sangshin 18mm antennas have very weak stocking policies for their antennas and at the time of this writing they have only 2 antennas in stock with over a 6 week lead time for more.  Transplant GPS in comparison has what may be thousands in stock and available to ship.

I have found both to be quite reasonable on shipping so those in regions other than North America may in fact have good luck ordering small quantities from these folks and requesting them shipped standard first class post.

I just ordered 10 EMTAC antennas from Transplant and they charged me only $25 USD for FedEx shipping w/ tracking and free brokerage to my location in Canada.

You may want to mention association with the "Paparazzi UAV" project when speaking with these suppliers as we continue ordering more, it would be more likely they could bend on prices, etc. as they see the volume of paparazzi orders increasing.

Cheers,
Matthew Currie
