Thanks Chris, It installed fine from the Live CD. I had to install under safe mode, it worked like a charm! Now to install the graphic card drivers...

I have a similar laptop, and had problems. I run the
live cd under VMWare. Even if you do get the live cd booting, there will
still be issues due to the lack of support for the widescreen viewing
mode.
