Google does not allow people to use their map tiles in 3rd party software (i.e.
paparazzi) and they have algorithms to detect such attempts. Generally, you
can get about 1 km^2 per day without triggering Google's system. Once
triggered, Google will ban your IP address from access to maps for a day or
two, even through a web browser.

This is a frequent source of frustration for newcomers but since the tiles only
need to be downloaded once, it is not such a problem for most users who fly at
a select few fields. The only solutions are to crack Google's algorithm or use
the open source map tiles from Microsoft(!). I'll buy a beer for whoever
implements either solution (this beer thing seems to be a good motivator).
