Also have had success with this configuration. The only problem I see is for belly-landers, which should be obvious.

To secure them, I generally take a piece of shrink-wrap just big enough to wrap around the two sides without the picoblade connector, making sure to not obstruct the thermopile's window. Then I use hot glue between the shrink-wrap and the (foam) airframe. Works really well.

Hello Adrian,

we flew a small Graupner Elektro Trainer S like this, worked just as well.

Hello all,
Me again, hopefully I won't be pestering all of you too much longer with
inane novice questions - thanks to all those who have been a tremendous
help, couldn't have done this without you. My (hopefully) final question
before I get into the air is how to best mount the horizontal IR board. I am
flying with a large glow-powered plane, the Hangar 9 Alpha 40. It is a
high-wing design, and has a front-mounted engine. The wing itself is quite
large. The engine exhausts near the top, so because of heat interference and
oil spew concerns, I was considering mounting the IR board *underneath* the
fuse. From a directional standpoint, there should be nothing wrong with
this, correct? The tricycle gear would give *plenty* of ground clearance, as
I fly with belly-mounted cameras all the time. I think this would also
somewhat solve the problem of the large wingspan interfering with the field
of view, were I to mount it on top. Is there anything inherently wrong with
doing so, before I drill into the underside of the fuse? Also, what are
people using to secure the board? It's the new IR board design, purchased
from Chebuzz. Thanks!
