Hi Nisma,

You say "used a COTS K-Band radar sensor."
Could you please send a link to the your COTS senssor?

Regards,

Sergey

Hi, i have realized a K-band Radar sensor.
Or to say it better, used a COTS K-Band radar sensor.
It have 250µV output, and costs 10€ in single quantity, but you could
get it with amplifier board for 28€ or so, but then you must replace the
potentiometer with a i2c or spi resistor in order to use it on  UAV.
I don´t know, if it´s possible, because the schematic is not available.
It´s really ESD sensitive, ie. measuring the pins with a multimeter
will destroy the module. It can detect the speed over ground and the distance, but the distance depends on the radar absortion/reflection body,
so it´s not reliable on unknown terrain. If you start from the same terrain, then this is not a issue, otherwise you must test and know the
gain offsets and select it. Max range is 13.5mt trought the thermoformed
plastic body cover i have used. Not mutch, but ok. The only really drawback
is that the sensor is insensible for the not centered alignment.
Example, using a ultrasonic sensor, i could use two tx on each wing and
one rx on the fuselage. This allows to know the position of the wing
relative to the terrain, the range is slightly less and costs and weight more.
