You were right to some extent when you compared debian/ubuntu and the
paparazzi/"some future project?".
There could be a market for a "plug and play" paparazzi based project. But
that doesn't mean that paparazzi should be replaced by that project.
Remember that paparazzi is mostly used by univerity to make research and by
enthousiasts that want to learn and develop something and not just unpack a
ready to fly uav and watch it fly by itself.
BTW I find it much better if managers that don't take the time to understand
in what they are investing are not interested in the paparazzi project. If
people started to try to make their brain work instead of just being
impressed by the "wow factor", the world would be much better.
UAVs are a very fast growing sector of the aviation industry (maybe even
the fastest) and more and more private >companies are going to want to use
them. When the person with the money (usually the manager) looks at a

feel (what they call professionalism). The only >thing they have to get that
look and feel is the Paparazzi website. Ardupilot, Attopilot, Micropilot,
MNAV all have >websites that look much better than the Paparazzi code.
