I had considered the LPC1768 in place of the STM32F103 when I started
to design Lisa. I chose the STM32 because of the nice peripheral lib
and also because it's available in numerous packages (for QFN36, to
BGA64, BGA100 up to huge QFP 144).
I agree. We used the LPC because of previous experience with this MCU
family. STM32 is also quite alluring because of the CAN-bus and the
possibility to use it for motor control.
At the moment, the Booz code is happily running on Lisa/L in the STM32
and the poor MCU is very bored.
Now that we have such a powerful MCU it will be interesting to make a
quantitive analysis of the quad hover/control performance with regards
to different control loop update rates and used filters. I suspect the
hover/control performance could also be increased with stiffening the
props and reducing their moments of inertia.
