Hi,
I`m personally convinced that there is no other opensource uav project that have such a good GCS as Paparazzi.
The problems is the GCS is opensource but there is not a big community for Ocaml.
Now Pascal is missing we have to solve this problem.
some ideas:
The ocaml professor at ENAC will he be willing to give points to students who program something  in the GCS?

Are there paparazzi members willing to learn Ocaml? so the community have more people where they can count on.

can some university's ENAC,ISAE Supairo, TU Delft, Braunschweig, ... work together to see if the can find money for PHD`s working on the ground station?

,...

more ideas are welcome.

also the idea of working together with the other opensource projects for finding a standard is a good one.
but we have to be sure that we do not stand still (wait for the others) or go back in time.

kind regards
 Bart Remes

Well,
My first reaction is that it is a common mistake to think that because
something looks a bit difficult to understand at first sight, it is a reason
to redo it from start differently.
Sometime it is...and sometime it isn't...
Ocaml seems to be relatively widely used in France for education, research
and...aeronautical stuff...
So before we trash everything that was done so far, it would be a good idea
to wait a little to know if someone will continue developping and
maintaining the gcs in ocaml (someone from the ENAC or someone on the list).
I am very happy with the way the gcs is working so far and I see no reason
for changing it unless there is really none taking care of the code or at
least understanding it...
Do I want to learn ocaml ? ...hum that is a good question that I leave open
;-)
