Eric,
I would think that that solution (Lisa/L + Overo) is not ideal
as it would consume more power and weigh more. It is however good for intensive
tasks such as real-time video processing.
From my point of view, best to keep the on-board hardware simple
and do the calculations on the ground station.

Hi,
Did you guys consider using Lisa/L using the piggy back
overo for your calculations ?

Set up the
circle and then just move the waypoint toward the centre of the thermal.
An idea I had
was to add an Ivy bus injection to the open source software "xcsoar".
It would be a good way to visualise the soaring flight and also it does a lot
of the calcs required..

That would solve the problem, for sure...
But I would like an "elegant" solution which could just be uploaded
to my existing planes. Very few people have additional processors availible. So
finding a solution for the exsting systems could be used by a much huger group.
One Idea:
Use a group of, let´s say 100 invisible waypoints to store vz in the altitude
value of these and use this database for calculations of thermal centers.
