Hi Felix,

I've sent a GH pull request for the Makefile.
However, I suspect it will break everywhere else other than Ubuntu 11.10!
The problem seems to be that pcre-config lies on 11.10 and ld won't follow  
the symlink - I can try filing an upstream bug?

If anyone has a better idea of a workaround or an LSB_RELEASE specific  
version please do it; it would be much more useful.
