Hi Chris,
You just need to be careful.
Some OSDs manually tap into the PAL signal via the sync line and some
faster interrupts.
The code running on these things is very time critical (as in, nops in the
main loop) but they are cheaper to make as you don't need a MAX7456.

AVR cpu and gps
that has a price impossible to beat (~40 dollars with GPS) so i will
use it and hopefully
write a different firmware.

The best is that it is open source and the code is freely available
(CL-OSD)
If someone has more free time than me i think this will be a nice
