Hi Arni,Can you post the output of running 'dmesg' in a terminal window just after plugging in your usb to serial convertor? It's possible your other laptop has an internal modem or something which is assigned /dev/ttyUSB0, in which case your xbee would be /dev/ttyUSB1.
dmesg will show the device file that is assigned to your xbee.The warnings mean exactly what they say :) - the direction of control gains was recently changed to match aerospace convention. If you aren't using an old airframe file you made it shouldn't be an issue. If you are, double check all your control surfaces before flight.
