One solution for connecting the Yapa v2 board to the gcs by xbees, is to configure the xbees like described here: http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/APM1Wireless, (at the bottom of the page).

And to configure the xbees for transparent mode in the airframe file:  <subsystem name="telemetry" type="transparent"/> 

On my setup, I have to select "Flight address@hidden" (not "Flight address@hidden ) in "Session" drop-down list in the gcs, when connecting.
