Hi,
You need use 3D/2D position sensor in navigation mode because horizontal guidance need the position measurement for controlling.
But, you can use the optitrack gps subsytem in indoor navigation.
see please https://github.com/paparazzi/paparazzi/commit/c81c8745eb4d449341d9c130fa8580810afb9e78

Good idea for using sonar distance in flight plan exceptions.
remarck: If you define in your airframe the sonar module, I think, you must disable sonar fusion in vertical filter.

Good luck.

Noah.

Hi David ,
Is it really possible to get location with cm resolution indoor, do you know about the technology behind this.? I hear that some companies are developing accelerometer based INS systems to work with Wifi signals and their reflections by knowing the location of the sources but i don't know a practical application about this.

I hear that retail stores can now know the location of an iPhone
(maybe also Android) within a few cm inside a store, even a mall.
Maybe this technology could be used by indoor flying robotics?
