I was running into similar problems in my own code.
Visual C++ doesn't correctly add the c-library
functions to namespace std when you include, for
instance, ctime instead of time.h. A possible
workaround is to do the following:
#ifdef _MSC_VER // we know it's vc now
namespace std {
#include <time.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
}
#else // A compiler that works correctly.
#include <ctime>
#include <cstdlib>
#endif
I've been doing some windows stuff lately and I'm
pretty disappointed with vc.
