i added it to 16 and im about to add it to head too. just
use the return_array function with a $column attribute, 'id'
in your case. please note: in head the name of the id_key of
the array changed to *cat_id*.

All the phpgroupware applications I am engaged with
(sitemgr, bookmarks, news_admin) could make use of a
function in the API categories class, that would work
like the return_array function, but only return ids,
thus probably improving performance.
