When to release?!

Should we still focus on a 0.5.0 release for beta testers, as it was
planned a while back or should be simply drop this, since the 'weekly'
static-binaries do that job already good enough?

If so what should be the next target and what features whould you
expect from the next release? I would some foreign opinions first,
before I'll say what I have in mind.

BTW: We should also have some policy of what should go into
distributions and what shouldn't. I am far from happy that 0.5.0pre3
made it already in a few distros, but 0.4.0 wasn't really an option
since distros generally refuse to package static binaries and it
wasn't really perfect on the othersite as well.
