I guess it's close enough, it's filling the gaps in understanding I had
nicely. Thanks for providing it, I'd have asked a french friend for one
tomorrow otherwise. ;-)

The translated part is not an error message but an explanation to the
user that a SIGSEGV happend and how to provide debug information to this
list. Therefore it makes sense to translate it, I knew at first sight
what it is and that I don't need the english original (or the german
translation).

It looks even worse. It seems like Mandrake is using some protection
against buffer overflow attacks, thereby making debugging impossible.
You should try to use the core file like mentioned first, if there's
none, run 
ulimit -c unlimited
first and pingus thereafter. Then you should get a core or core.XXXX
where XXXX is the process ID.

The warnings are harmless and should only appear the first time when
there's no .pingus in your homedir yet.
