     @float and @headitem were introduced in Texinfo 4.7, and @tie in
     Texinfo 4.3, so it sounds like you have an old version of
     `makeinfo' installed.

     Our README didn't say anything about Texinfo. I checked in this
     change:

     --- README.~1.12.~ 2006-07-18 19:49:38.000000000 -0700
     +++ README 2006-11-25 18:55:49.000000000 -0800

     + * Optional: Texinfo 4.7 or later, if you want to build the
     + documentation in PostScript or PDF format.

But won't you also need the latest makeinfo inorder to build
pspp.info ?

Seperate but related issue:

The header of this table seems to be malformed anyway. The info
version shows up as:

Format       ` '3141.59     -3141.59
-------------------------------------------
F8.2         ` 3141.59'     `-3141.59'
COMMA9.2     ` 3,141.59'    `-3,141.59'

which I don't think is the way it's supposed to look.
