Use "cvs up -d"

I checked in the developers guide (see patch #6262).  This adds a
directory to the tree, so be sure to specify -d on the cvs update
command line the next time.  (Or you can put "update -Pd" in your
.cvsrc and always get that behavior, which is what I do.)

I love deadlines.
