Yes and no.

The variable type dialog is a chinese copy of that from the chicago
gui.  I guess the original designers decided only to implement the
formats which they considered most useful.  

I suppose at some time we should add the other types.  Probably a
combo box would be more appropriate than the current radio button
list.
