Moving to pspp-dev:

I've noticed this problem too.  But I've got a biggish patch which
fixes it and a lot of other things.  But that patch is not yet ready
for human consumption.   Maybe it could be committed into an
experimental branch if when we've decided how we're going to manage
branching in the new git repository.

     Hi Sam.  I know it's been quite a while since you passed along
     this information, but: if you can suggest a way to reproduce
