Follow-up Comment #1, patch #6633 (project pspp):
OK. Let's give this a try. Shared libraries add to bloat and make
everything slower (especially on x86-32), but maybe the effect is not a big
deal. There is little attempt at optimization in our core data structures
anyhow.
