This is surprising.  The missing symbols you mention are related
to libiconv, I think, and I don't see any changes related to
libiconv in the last month or so of the stable branch.  Do you
know what was the last commit from the stable branch that built
successfully for you?

May I assume that you do have libiconv installed?
