This is indeed a bug.

In the file src/ui/gui/psppire-syntax-window.c line 117

 new_paths = g_realloc (new_paths, (n + 1) * sizeof (*new_paths));

to read 

 new_paths = g_realloc (new_paths, (n + 2) * sizeof (*new_paths));

I think it should fix your problem.
