Just off of curiosity, what Fedora version are you starting with?
I'll try it at home on my Fedora 5 box sometime this week and report
my results.

At this point I'm puzzled and don't know what to suggest. Does
anyone else have a suggestion?
I am also willing to try to provide help directly: if you can
give me an account on a machine that exhibits this problem, I
will try to debug it.
