I mostly just lurk here, but I thought I'd throw this in. Ubuntu 12.04 (Now in BETA) includes 0.7.9. For a BETA, it is pretty stable, but I don't know how comfortable you are with half-baked software.

As an alternative (at least until 12.04 goes gold) you can probably install the Ubuntu .deb (not sure about this though).

But, at the very least, installing an up to date version of pspp on Ubuntu will be much easier come April.
