2 1/2 weeks are gone now, so I guess we won't get more info from Robert Gross. So I guess that part of bug https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?45266 can be closed. The strange behavior originally reported by  Alan Mead is still an issue.

The one reported by Alan Mead is reproducible and it should stay open till it is fixed.

The one reported by Robert Gross seems to be only reproducible by Robert. Without further info, it can't be fixed.

I am working on a version with GTK3 which has an option to start psppire in gdb from the MSWindows start menu. The user has clicke it and then type "run" in the command prompt and then the psppire gui starts. When crashing, the commandprompt-window will give more info and it might be possible to do a backtrace.

I still need to write a few lines on how to use gdb.

If Robert Gross is willing to use this feature it might be possible to find out what is going on. If not, it can only be closed.

Interestingly, it I only type in no more than three cells at a time, PSPP does not crash. As mentioned earlier, there is no particular error message, Windows simply says the program is not responding.

 

I also checked to make sure my version of Windows 7, service pack 1 is completely up-to-date. As near as I can tell, it is.
