Here are the last relevant lines of syslog :

Apr 15 09:25:09 subversions lshd[16636]: Unregistered child 18346 died with 
exit status 0.
Apr 15 09:25:10 subversions lshd[16636]: Connection died.
Apr 15 09:25:20 subversions lshd[16636]: Unregistered child 18363 died with 
exit status 0.
Apr 15 09:25:21 subversions lshd[16636]: Connection died.
Apr 15 09:25:26 subversions lshd[16636]: Unregistered child 18369 died with 
exit status 0.
Apr 15 09:25:27 subversions lshd[16636]: Memory corrupted!

and then I restarted it

Apr 15 10:30:02 subversions lshd[19567]: Connection died.
Apr 15 10:30:03 subversions lshd[19567]: Connection died.
Apr 15 10:30:08 subversions lshd[19567]: Unregistered child 19574 died with 
exit status 0.
Apr 15 10:30:12 subversions lshd[19567]: Unregistered child 19577 died with 
exit status 0.
Apr 15 10:30:29 subversions lshd[19567]: Connection died.

I did it with 

/etc/init.d/lshd stop
/etc/init.d/lshd start

although the stop was probably not necessary since no lshd was running on
the machine when I did it.

It's running again.
