Package: AbulEdu

This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
AbulEdu is a layer on top of a GNU/Linux distribution (currently only Linux
Mandrake), for education purpose. It is made of several modules which have the
following functionalities:
- A web interface, made in php, allowing a teacher without any computer science
knowledge to perform system administration, including group and user management
via a browser, from any terminal or station of the school network. This module
is called AbulEduConf.
- A set of software, validated and preconfigured.
- A Samba-based solution for sharing resources (files, printers, ...) for
computers running DOS + Windows 3.11 or Windows 9x;
- A way for the school network to access the Internet via a proxy or a firewall.
- Remote administration.
- The possibility to perform \"educational recycling\" of old computers (even
486s) as X-terminals based on LTSP.
- A mail solution for intra or extranet based on NeoMail.
- Some hardware \"extras\": shutdown of the server via a push-pull button,
authentication with used telephone smart cards...
- Other things added along with time ... (the library management software may
be available by this time).
