A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Jerome Kunegis <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Baby
System name: baby
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
Baby was started as a chess program called BabyChess. It had its own graphical
interface. Then I wrote an engine for XBoard. Later I wrote a fractal program
that used parts of the source code of BabyChess, so the project was renamed to
Baby and now contains BabyF\\ractal, BabyChess, and the BabyChess XBoard engine.
I plan to develop the graphical chess interface and the fractal program
further. The chess engine itself was not modified for a long time, and I
don\'t know if I want to continue it. It is very messy and the new one that I
once wrote is no better.
I plan to add a client program for Internet Chess Server (ICS) such as
<freechess.org>, and maybe a front end for other XBoard engines.
Currently Baby also includes the CGI program BabyCGI which I use for Baby\'s
web site at <http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~kunegis/baby/>.
At the beginning Baby was running on versions of Windows but it is now based
entirely on libraries which are typically used on GNU/Li\\nux systems such as
XLib, LibPNG and others.
Baby is free software following the GNU definition, but it does not aim at
being part of the GNU project. Baby is written in C++ and has its own
configuration and build programs. However, it is designed to run and be
developed on the GNU system.
Baby is published under the GNU General Public License.
The current web site of Baby is <http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~kunegis/baby/>.
