The CVSROOT of most projects has been switched from /cvs/project to
/cvsroot/project. That could explain your problems.
You cannot update the CVS repository using pserver. You must use the ssh
method. For this, add your SSH1 keys to your savannah account and ask
one of the projects administrator to add you as a developer of this
projet.
