cvs -t -d address@hidden:/webcvs checkout software/GNUnet

        instead.

        Then 

        cd software/GNUnet
        <work>
        cvs commit

        Note that it's better to do the cvs commit / update *within* the
directory for various reasons. I can explain if you want.
