This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

Arc Rainbow <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Freeform Open Publishing Sys.
System name: freeform
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

Freeform is an collection of CGIs and utilities for Open Publishing websites.
It\'s design goal is to have as much control as possible given to the general
audience of the site without compromising security or accessability of the
information it contains.

While it was designed for Independent Media Centers (Indymedia) it could be
quite useful by any number of different organizations which promote Open
Publishing and Free Software. Unlike other OP codebases Freeform doesn\'t rely
on non-free software and only supports free media formats, converting non-free
formats when uploaded by users to JPEG, OGG, etc. Several users of our website
have commented that it\'s also easier to use than other OP codebases because of
it\'s simplicity.

Currently Freeform requires Python, MySQL, ImageMagick, Vorbistools, and either
Abisae or Apache for a webserver. PostgreSQL support is planned but is not
currently in high demand. Icecast2 and IceS are needed for ogg streaming, but
is not required for general use.

It already exists and will be uploaded to CVS soon. It can be seen in action
at http://ithaca.indymedia.org/.
