A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Peter Minten <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: DotGNU Forum System
System name: dotgnu-forum
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
Description:
The DotGNU Forum System project (or simply Forum) will provide a platform on
which webservices that allow simultaneous editing of data by multiple users
will run. Forum will also integrate the concepts of various existing
communications technologies (ie, IRC, IM, FTP, HTTP, BBS, USENET). It will
provide \'plazas\': virtual platforms that can contain data and apps relevant
to a subject where people can meet and work together on that subject. Various
basic webservices will be supplied with the program, including a documentation
browser (for HTML and Texinfo), a download server, a message board and the
plaza server. A chat system is integrated into the Forum server and
automatically used for every app.
Forum does not run webservices, instead remotely (or locally) running
webservices interface with it (using xml communication instead of traditional
linking). Forum handles the whole chat system so the app (the webservice)
doesn\'t have to bother with that. Forum itself is also a webservice, written
in C#.
No code exists yet but I\'m working on it.
Other Software Required:
Forum requires basic DotGNU support:
A DotGNU execution enviroment to run in
Portable.NET as a compiler and runtime library supplier
DotGNU base libraries
Other Comments:
Forum has already been dubbed a GNU package
