A package was submitted to savannah.nongnu.org

Carlos Eduardo Gorges <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Easy Debian
System name: easydebian
Type: non-GNU

Description:
This project targets to solve lay debian users troubles, creating tools and
necessary adaptation to make debian accessible to these users.
It Includes :
* a new system installer written in C/gtk/newt ( will be rewriten to
C++/qt/ncurses ), with network (nfs,ftp,http), cdrom, harddisk,
raw/iso, install support;
* a set of system utilities ( hardware detection - sound card, network card, tv
card, scsi card , isdn card, modem card, printer, joystick, etc detection - ,
disc patition, network configutator, xfree configurator, packaging installer,
printer configurator, mouse/language/keyborad layout configurator );
* changes in many packages ( better suport for latin languages -
mainly because of Brazilian portuguese issues -, improved general error
handling to users problems, support to more devices on the linux kernel,
improved of printer system with the addition of more drivers, better-looking
window manangers with default themes, etc ).

Easy Debian does not intend to be a new OS distribution, but
a developing moviment for new tools to debian GNU/linux (www.debian.org).
Probably we will release ISOs of debian with changes and tools created by us,
but this ISOs necessarily don\'t need to be placed in savannah.
At the begining the only supported platform for installer will be ia32 (ix386)
with kernel 2.4 or 2.6/3.0 of linux. Im thinking about using savannah only as
webpage, for forum and cvs of tools ( ~200Mb total ), but if it were possible,
I would like to have about 2Gb space, that will be used gradually until the
development (the first public distribution of ISOs w/ new installer/tools is
scheduled to 06/2003)

Other Software Required:
gcc, glibc, linux kernel >= 2.4, parted, newt, ncurses, qt 2 or 3, gtk 1.2, etc

debian 3.0r0 contains all requirements

Other Comments:
If some commercial organization start using any software developed by us and
forcing the use with proprietary software (as the United Linux, Lindows, etc ),
we will change the license to not allow this.
