I came across this URL while searching for information
on how to implement our local content project, AFARA.
AFARA seeks to help take Information technology and
Content into local communities, particularly in
the Yoruba-speaking region of Nigeria where we (PIN)
work. We trust that the project will also benefit the
over 22,000,000 (1999 WA) Yoruba-speaking
people in West Africa and the rest of teh world.

PIN - Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (www.pin.itgo.com) -
is an online and youth-led ICT4D effort that seeks to
empower young Nigerians in the area of Information
Technology through personal development, and also
ensuring that they play their active roles as global
citizens.

We discovered that most young people (and even
the "not-youngs") in Nigeria may not appreciate IT
since it is assumably meant for the learned in
English (and the popular languages) alone. This gap is
what we hope to build a bridge over with the AFARA
project. We invite you to please look at
www.pin.itgo.com/afara/index.htm, where we have set up
comprehensive information about the project.

>From consulations, we know that we have to get
involved with character sets, et al but we would need
assistance with that. While searching for online
information on the language, I found out that it is
listed as ISO 639-2 and also came across our email
address as an expert in such local
language projects.

We need assistance in this ambitious project and count
on your support in order to help the over 22,000,000
people that speak the language to have access to the
Information Society. We look forward to reading from
you.

Thank you.
