Fernando "Lalo" Martins <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Om
System name: om
Type: non-GNU
Description:
Om is essentially a persistent object system with facilities for
extension, and a set of tools to write methods for object stored in
such a system. It does away with the traditional concept of
\"application\"; an Om \"application\" is a vague term with no exact
technical meaning. Instead, you write loosely coupled methods and group them
in classes.
Methods can be written in many ways (interpreted scripts, shared libraries,
executables) and languages.
The system is designed for flexibility and extensibility. There are hooks for
\"file format\" adapters, for storages (so you can fetch objects from the
network), and others.
It does not yet exist in any useful form. There is some code in my private CVS
that is starting to work, but it is far from release shape.
Other Software Required:
there are plans to use the gmp library, and guile.
