Summary: cvs SSH key added but cannot login after several hours waiting
Original Submission: [I can't set severity because the pulldown menu is broken
in Mozilla 1.4 GNU/Linux]
I am trying to get code:
cvs -z3 address@hidden/cvsroot/fsfe co fsfe
I added my SSH DSA key, (just the hex) but I cannot log in. Can you tell me if
just the hex of the DSA key is required?
I copied the hex from /etc/sshd/ssh_host_dsa_key.pub
Thanks for your help to a solution, please cc me in replies! :)

Hi, Thanks this now works! :)
Perhaps this command could be added to the FAQ?
https://savannah.gnu.org/faq/?group_id=5802&question=How_do_I_start_using_the_CVS_repository.txt
This did not have this info, or the "ext" part of the command, or webcvs
example etc..
GNU Make (https://savannah.gnu.org/cvs/?group=make) has this extra
infomation on its Savannah page, perhaps it can be turned on?
Thanks again for the help.
Cheers, now3d

It looks like you are using the wrong repository.
Try using this:
cvs -z3 -d:ext:address@hidden:/webcvs/fsfe co fsfe

ok, so now i get an error:
$ export CVS_RSH=ssh
$ cvs -z3 address@hidden/cvsroot/fsfe co fsfe
Enter passphrase for key '/home/now3d/.ssh/id_dsa':
Invalid CVSROOT (1)
cvs checkout: invalid data from cvs server
$
any ideas?

Ok, sorry, I assumed it was just my system config putting the dsa key in a
different location: /etc/sshd/ssh_host_dsa_key.pub
Perhaps this could be clarified on the page? (that daemon keys are not suitable)
Also, how much of the ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub file is needed? the page does not make
it clear. does it need the beginning "ssh-dsa" then the hex is compulsary, is
the "address@hidden" required at the end? Could these points be clarified on
the page please?
Regards

You setup your key wrong. For instructions on generating ssh-keys, please
visit:
https://savannah.gnu.org/faq/?group_id=5802&question=How_do_I_configure_my_SSH_access.txt
After the key has been generated, copy its contents from your local user
directory, generally ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub, and copy all it's contents onto
Savannah.
