Michael J. Flickinger <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Stream Formatting Tool
System name: sft
Type: non-GNU
Description:
SFT, stream formatting tool, allows for simple formatting of a stream.
SFT can number lines, where a newline is encountered, as well as remove spaces
and tabs from its input, akin to column -t. SFT's "algorithm" for space and
tab removal is quicker than that of column's.
Since sft can remove spaces and tabs, as well as number lines, it's ideal for
certain tasks. Such as numbering lines in source code, removing spaces and
tabs when viewing files in the proc filesystem, or simply removing tabs and
spaces from output from other programs.
