Elfyn McBratney <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: other
Other License: The GPL version 2 (or later) will be used for source code and
the FDL will be used for documentation and data.
Package: CASS - Categorical Archiving Search Syst
System name: cass
Type: non-GNU

Description:
What is CASS? CASS, the `Categorical Archiving Search System',
is an attempt at creating a Free search engine, that aims to
provide a powerful and extensible Free (as in Freedom) search
engine software package and a Free (as in Beer) search engine
web service.

CASS can be considered as a meta project, in the way that it
houses smaller components that make up the complete search
engine package. These components are:

Virtual Machine

The Virtual Machine provides us with a safe and secure
environment in which to interpret and execute CASS-VM opcodes,
that provides basic input/output and file-system interaction.

LOSQE - Logical Database

CASS' database engine, dubbed LOSQE, for `Logical String Query
Engine' will be designed to create an optimal ``search engine''
  back-end.

LOSQE Client

The LOSQE client library and various administrative programs.

CASS Web Service

The CASS front-end to the LOSQE database system.

Combined these four components complete the CASS project.

Other Software Required:
None right now; the project is working on complete design documentation and
code musings. Though, use of flex, bison and glibc on GNU/Linux is anticipated.

Other Comments:
As noted, this project is still in the design/documentation stages, with only
small pieces of pseudo-code.
