[Savannah-hackers] SSH problem - keeps asking for password

Subject: [Savannah-hackers] SSH problem - keeps asking for password

Hello,

I've successfully created a username, gebarnes. And on my machine I cd'ed
to $HOME/.ssh and did "ssh-keygen -t dsa -f id_dsa" and that produced the
id_dsa and id_dsa.pub files. I then cut and pasted the contents of the
id_dsa.pub file into the Change Authorized Keys page. My Account
Configuration page says that I have one key and the key appears to be
correct. However I'm still getting prompted for a password when I try to
use cvs. I did all of the above about 10pm last night and it's now 8am so
I'm presuming the every-30-minutes cron job has been run.

What would you suggest?

Things I've noticed, but don't know if they are important as I know
relatively little about SSH are:

   - my username here is "geb" and there is "gebarnes" and the key says
     "geb"

   - my machine's name is "smbear" and that is in the key but I don't know
what my machine's apparent name or address would be at
savannah.gnu.org. I'm using DHCP with my ISP and so my IP address
changes over time. Also I don't imagine that "smbear" is entered into
any DNS or NIS server being used by savannah.

Does the "address@hidden" that appears at the end of my key matter in any way?
If so, how should it be changed?

        Gary
