The real committer is in the CVS log entry as a sort of pseudo-header, like:

  Use utf-8 encoding in ERC ChangeLogs.

If the emacs-diffs list strips out the info (or simply doesn't present
it nicely), perhaps someone with access to the scripts could make it
do the right thing?
