You have reached the savannah folks but are asking about fencepost.  I
am sorry but savannah folks don't have any control of fencepost.  The
accounts on savannah and fencepost are not linked.  You will need to
ask the FSF admins for assistance with fencepost.

In there I note that it says:

  "When you set a password with popauth, the new password will be
  active immediately for pop3. However, it will take up to 5 minutes
  for your new password to become active for authenticated smtp - if
  your password conforms to the rules outlined above."

So perhaps it simply needs time to propagate?  I don't know.

I suggest writing to address@hidden to create an admin ticket in the
RT system and they should be able to help you there.
