GIM - a data back-end designed with modularity in mind

The GIM community project is the brainchild of D Smith and has been advancing
by a module I (Mark Roth) have been working on.

A long winded explanation can be found here:

http://www.gidforums.com/t-4093.html

and some of the initial attempts are located here:

http://www.dbcservices.com/cgi-bin/gim/index

The current state (source only) can be found here:

http://www.gidforums.com/t-4897.html

Our intent is to provide data handling with a well documented interface for
use by a client program so that no matter what is used for the GUI the
interface will be the same and therefore make it relatively easy to provide a
graphical GUI, a console GUI etc etc without having to make many changes.
Dsmith (at GIDForums) created a console version of our current module and I
(cable_guy_67) have created the beginnings of an FLTK based GUI. They both
provide nearly the same functionality and use the same interface but service
two distinctly different audiences. Our intent is to live under a GPL
licencing as described here:

http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html

If you have any additional questions ask away. ;)

Other Software Required:
------------------------
FLTK - The Fast Light Tool Kit home: http://www.fltk.org/

This is released under the LGPL and falls well within our requirements.

Currently that dependency is only for the current working module. GIM itself
has no such dependencies.

Other Comments:
---------------
We are just looking for a place to help the two currently active developers
(myself and dsmith) get our project off the ground and try to generate some
interest. It is more a learning project than anything else.
