Description:

  The CoPE System (Collaborative Peer to Peer Environment) is a Java program
with the purpose to simulate a P2P Enviroment, where clients share
recommendations about items via the exploitation of Collaborative Filtering
methods. Its main aim is to check out, if a P2P approach is in any way
superior to the usual Client-Server-Architecture. For simulation the
MovieLens-DataSet from www.grouplens.org is used. The system should provide a
standard GUI, Visualization of the network, a Data-Component to parse the data
into a User-Item-Matrix and different Collaborative Filtering Algorithms. The
Clients will be modeled as Java-Threads. We have no code, yet. 


Other Software Required:

  The CoPE-System will be written entirely in Java and runnable on any Free
Java Enviroment.
