==== Description: ====
SAI - Scott’s Artificial Intelligence
An artificial intelligence program being developed on commonly available
microcomputers of various hardware architectures. Right now the BASH shell
scripting language is being used for basic concept development, but the
intention of the author is to utilize a better-suited programming language
for AI program development when the need arises.
A major goal of this project is to have the SAI program eventually become the
intelligence of an android that uses only free software. At that time, the
hardware that the android requires will be created, and the schematics
released to the public under some kind of free hardware license.
Source code can be found at: http://scm.freeshell.org/sai
==== Other Software Required: ====
During development, SAI is dependent on the ‘say’ proprietary program
found in Apple OS 10.x.x systems for speech synthesis audio file output, but
will not by required by the user of the SAI program. All speech-synthesized
files created by ‘say’ will be in the OGG audio format and part of the
SAI program distribution. The user will be required to have a shell capable
OGG player to play speech synthesized OGG files.
The author would prefer not to use a nonfree speech synthesis program during
the development of SAI, however he has been unable to find one that is free
as in freedom, let alone one with the same capabilities as ‘say’. He is
open to suggestions.
