This project GNU PageScholar would be a free, cross-platform, intelligent
multi-lingual Optical Character Recognition for printed texts. Initially OCR
for Indian Language - Tamil and English would be created. 

Goals and Objective:
1.Cross Platform & GUI based.
2.Multi Lingual Support (both for interface and recognition)
3.Support for preprocssing, page layout analysis etc..
4.Spell check feature

With the success and experience of GNU Tamil OCR (
http://gtamilocr.sourceforge.net), I have decided to start this multilingual,
crossplatform OCR 

Please refer the source code of
http://gtamilocr.cvs.sourceforge.net/gtamilocr/gtamilocr/ which would be the
base for GNU Page Scholar.



==== Other Software Required: ====
GNU PageScholar would use Image Processing Library 98(IPL98) for the
underlying image processing functions and wxWidgets Framework for providing
platform independent GUI.Both IPL98 and wxWidgets used are free software(GPL).
