As far as I know, the FSF does not generally consider connecting to a service
over the network to be the equivalent of linking, or a plugin. The two
licenses need not be compatible.

>From your description, I'm not convinced that Elasticsearch is nonfree. It
would depend on exactly how all the pieces interact; and that analysis seems
unnecessary for us. We're not being asked to host Elasticsearch. IMHO ... -k
