Follow-up Comment #2, task #14593 (project administration):

Blackboard is a learning management system that is developed by Blackboard
Inc., a for-profit organization. Among other things, learning management
systems are used in order for students to attend classes from their homes
(because the teacher provides ways for the class itself to happen through that
learning management system).

However, together with this feature, unfortunately, the proprietors of
Blackboard force the website visitor/guest/client to use non-free software
through JavaScript. It turns out that most of the usage could be solved, in
the server-side, by using HTML forms with hidden inputs with the appropriate
values and also a visible "send" button. Besides, they could also make the
page containing the list of classes as a well formatted HTML page. However,
none of these where made by the proprietors of Blackboard, because they choose
to use non-free JavaScript instead.

What Whiteboard does is provide ways to replace the non-free software usage
with alternative ways friendly to free/libre software. Also, Whiteboard
doesn't depend on non-free software, because it doesn't use any functions/code
that comes from the non-free JavaScript software provided by Blackboard, and
also doesn't depend on the result of what those non-free JavaScript do.
